Why is it that the vendors/advertisers of portable stairlifts never show
an animation of them in action?

So many ways to go wrong - the owners manual must be
mostly safety precautions ..

You would have to have an awful lot of trust in the person behind you.
SWMBO is trustworthy in some things, but she is an accident waiting to
happen in something like that.

A permanent stair lift is the only practical solution.

Yes, the family childish name for bungalows was heffalumps, £Diety knows
why. Heffalumps cost a lot in forage to maintain.

Using one of those is an interesting experience...

I was 'volunteered' to be the victim for a training session on them at
work - where they are used for evacuation via the stairwells

At some way over 20st, I was apprehensive, however the trainer took me
down with 1 finger on the controls... You can't see the floor at all so
it's rather like floating in space.

Not an experience I fancy repeating - but good to know it works! -
especially as we have now let out our ground floor offices so there will
be more w/c users upstairs

They always seem so slow though, I have seen one person lifts which solve the
problem but need extra space.

I'm not sure any of these match the simple still photographs that
usually appear on the ads I see.
Next time one pops up I'll come back with a link.

We used to have something similar at work which was for emergency
evacuation of disabled/casualties - though it was more like a low loader
version of a chair :-)

You can get motorised sack trollies which would see are just missing the chair
and seatbelt.
