I've got a birthday coming up and got to reminiscing about times of my
childhood. Here in the UK we had a Saturday morning BBC radio programme
hosted by Uncle Mac (Derek McCulloch).
Two of my favourites at the time were Sparky's Magic Piano and Danny
Kay's "The King's New Clothes".
Using the wonders of the internet and YouTube, I found both and here
they are fresh from the past.
Danny Kay

Sparky (my favourite)

Enjoy and be young again.

I certainly remember Sparky's Magic Piano, but I've never heard this
full version, only about 3 minutes worth as one of the requests on a
Saturday morning. It wasn't Uncle Mac but I'm only 80 years old.

I met him once, along with Roy Castle. Both really nice people.

Never liked that particular song but Judith Durham, oh yes, wish Id met
her and what a voice! Did you ever hear her sing the blues? Amazing.
So too Mariah Carey once upon a time...
and "The New Christy Minstrels " singing "three wheels on my wagon".

Hmm.. no, always found this irritating - always rang false.

I have a lasting liking for that quartet who seemed to have a genuine
liking for each other. i would not describe her as a sex symbol, a
hugely likeable person with a voice to die with, in my ears.

I am amazed to discover that she was a lifelong sufferer from asthma
with Bronchiectasis. My wife suffers with both (only since she moved to
London) and croaks like a frog (you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find
your princess).

As We're (OK, I'm) reminiscing, how about Frankie Howard's "Three little
fishies" earworm.

Other "children's favourites" (who did the poll?) included "79?
trombones" and "laughing policeman", and a youthful Bernard
Cribbins "digging an 'ole", whereas Terry Scott had an 'orrible Brother.

76 Trombones ?

and Cribbins might have been better known for Gossip Calypso ?
