JHH Tony Haynes Oct 2024 First Draft (A folk rock number)
JHH, JHH
Joyce Helen Hiskett was her maiden name
Then Joyce Helen Haynes she became
She was always JHH
She never believed this is all there is
She talked to God as a Friend
She’d wave out the window and say “All of this
Is my church. To us it’s on lend
“You doubt that I’m right, well that is your right
When I get there I’ll try to send
You a sign from beyond, a token of Light
Upon which you can depend
At 102, bed-ridden all day
Her short-term memory gone
You’d have to repeat what you wanted to say
But we saw that her spirit still shone
Then came the news in her sleep she had passed
That spirit was no longer there
She’d have us believe that at long last
She was in God’s care elsewhere
Seeking something sensible to do
An electric car, sceptic middle son sought
He asked the dealer to store it from new
Till he was fit to use what he’d bought
“The registration is 2023, would you like me
To re-register it for ‘24?” he enquired
Middle son agreed, and so it would be
‘Cos it bumps up the value, much desired!
When the new registration was on the plate
A heart stopping moment ensued
In the letters and numbers there was something of fate
No matter how it was viewed
Now the first two letters say where it would be,
And the numbers say when, it was registered
But the last three letter are random, you see
And that randomness couldn’t be bettered
They were…..
JHH, JHH
Joyce Helen Hiskett was her maiden name
Then Joyce Helen Haynes she became
She was always JHH
Coincidence I hear you say and
Maybe that is the way to go?
But at odds of 1 in 27,000
How do we really know?
JHH, JHH
Joyce Helen Hiskett was her maiden name
Then Joyce Helen Haynes she became
She was always JHH
Nice one Mum!?
cheers
